Flaky Skin

Agh! For the love of Chocolate Labs! We thought we conquered this over a year ago and now it is back in full swing. Both Labs Brats have dry flaky skin and what is even worse is that Dakota has dry patches on her muzzle and Cheyenne keeps eating her paws. The culprit? The dog food!

Don't worry, the pups get the best food possible. However, we decided to give them the duck version of the food. We didn't know that they use a small amount of chicken by-product and both of the girls are allergic to chicken. Unfortunately, they are having a very high reaction to it this time. So, it is back to the Salmon line (or as we call it, the "Fishy" food) for us! Wish us luck because if we don't, Cheyenne will be missing some paws if this keeps up any longer!

Hi, have you tried Brewers Yeast as a supplement to your dog food? Use the powdered form from health food shops, about a small teaspoon per meal. It has all the Vit Bs and really helps skin.
We sell a dog treat in the UK which has this and have had scratchy dogs come off steroids and not scratch anymore, (but we don't sell in the US).

No, we haven't tried that but heard about it. There are some dog foods that come with Brewer's Yeast already in it (from what we have been told) but we would definitely need to do more research first. Thanks for the tip though! :)
